All Thing's "Matter" in Mrs. Corbitt's Room

We have been learning all about matter.  The class has loved learning about matter hands-on!
We fist investigated the properties of matter by describing matter in mystery bags.  Students had to describe how each bags felt, looked, and smelled.  Then we went outside to find out what was really inside our mystery bags.

I thought it would be fun to pop the matter filled balloons over my lap.  The students though that all of the matter hitting me, was so funny!

Finally, we recorded and illustrated our findings.

We tested the viscosity of liquids using pennies, timers, shampoo, dish soap, and soda!  The students learn about the scientific method and how to test their hypothesis.

We made “elephant tooth paste” to see how we could make gas from a solid (yeast) and a liquid (hydrogen peroxide)being combined.  Students recorded what happened at the begging, middle, and end of the experiment using a graphic organizer.
